Hello!
I loved this past week, it was a lot of fun and we also had some challenges but that is the life of a missionary! One of my favorite experiences was on Friday because we had interviews with President and Sister Keyes. My interview with President was such a blessing to me, I was able to receive uplifting words from him and be real with him about my struggles. I have such a strong testimony of the power of prayer because of that interview as he gave words of encouragement, told me areas I needed to work on and reminded me that I am doing a good job. He is such a wonderful president and I absolutely love him. His wife is even more amazing, I think that is how it goes right...behind every great guy is an amazing wife? Haha. But she really is such a down to earth person, we chatted and laughed for awhile while sis Underlin was in her interview. So fun!
Saturday was a blast! We went over to the MacDonald's house for dinner and Sister MacDonald picked up our Spanish investigator Danelia and her daughter Valeria. We all made Chile Rellenos together, the REAL authentic Mexicano way and they were AMAZING!!! Sister MacDonald grew up in Mexico and has this huge passion for cooking so of course we hopped on the idea of her teaching us how to make them. It was so much fun and it look us around 3 hours...it may be one of those things I would make once a year because of the forever long process but hey, I still know how to make them! I told her my brother Scott went to Mexico and said he ate them out there, she says to me "well he may know how to eat them but you know how to make em! Show em whose boss!" Haha. We all had a lot of fun together in her small kitchen, just going to town stuffing the peppers, frying em up and making home made salsa...so yummy!
Sunday was a miracle day. Greg came to all three hours of church again by choice and he said he really likes being there, our struggle right now is fitting us into his busy schedule so we can set him with a baptismal date. Danelia and Valeria came to church for all three hours too! Danelia doesn't understand a lot of Spanish so we had Nick Gomez help translate for us. It was such a fun day with having all of them at church and our ward is so amazing with making them feel welcomed in but not too overbearing. I LOVE this ward for that reason and they are all so kind, wanting to have missionary opportunities of their own. Sunday night we had dinner at the Christensen, a newly wed couple around our age and they had their other newly wed friends over too. It is so much fun being at their house, I feel like I am hanging out with my friends or brothers! A wonderful tender mercy to my days :) Sunday night was also the president's devotional at the Liberty Jail, where new converts come and bear their testimonies...it was another amazing experience. The Lord really does prepare people to receive the gospel. There was a family that joined together and the parents spoke, it was amazing because they were so prepared, had a desire to learn and really allowed to spirit to teach them. I LOVE hearing conversion stories, people really change their lives and you can feel the spirit SO strongly every time because you know they are speaking from their heart.
Yesterday, Tuesday, We had exchanges with the other sister trainer Sister Vickers. I went out to her area and Sister Crapo went with Sister Underlin in our area. It was such a miracle day out with sister Vickers, we taught people and I felt like I had to be at every appointment to help them in a small way. We taught this less active older lady who is the mom of an active member in my ward! I am telling you, the Lord works in mysterious ways and it catches you off guard sometimes. I am so grateful to have my eyes open to see all the blessings that come in to my life everyday. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I can look back on my life and be extremely grateful for my challenges. The opportunities to change, to be better, to know that I am not stuck in a slump, I have a way to become better, I always have my older brother Jesus Christ to turn to, my family continues to love me even through my crazy times, my companion does the same, I can still be myself out here on my mission but become a better me, have strength from the scriptures, learn how much Heavenly Father loves me, how much he loves everyone that I meet, knowing I have a privilege to serve a mission to help people change their lives....that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. What greater blessing could their be? :) I love you all and I am grateful for all the letters and prayers!!! I appreciate all of them!!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Love
SISTAAAAAA Larson
