Ho Ho Hoooooooo!
I cannot believe that by next week's pday Christmas will have come and gone. Crazy! This past week has gone by so quickly and I continue to see how people say that the mission will fly by before you know it. Our Zone Conference was last week on Wednesday down in Independence and it was absolutely amazing, like always. It was so much fun walking in to see Sister Dodd, Sister Moore and then Sister Jones back from going to AZ for knee surgery! Sister Jones was gone for 2 or 3 transfers so she will be going home next year before Christmas instead of with us but it was fun to have our MTC Krew back togethaa :) At the conference, we had a lot of practices but one thing really stuck out to me about the doctrine of Christ in the Book of Mormon. The Exec Secretary, Elder Hepworth, spoke about how the doctrine of Christ helps us become like brand new white pieces of paper who get ripped, blackened and worn down. As we strengthen our testimony on the Doctrine of Christ which is faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the holy ghost, and enduring the end we don't just get tapped together...we are like a brand new piece of paper. He held up the paper and ripped it or crumpled it as he spoke about different trials people go through and it was such a visual for me because so many we teach have been through every one of those. How AMAZING it is to be a missionary and tell people about the doctrine of Christ that can help them get back on their feet and give them a bright hope!? I love this work.
Our family that we have been working with continues to move forward and change in front of our eyes. They recall the blessings they have seen since we have come into their house and all the kids chime in about how their is more happiness in their home. Sister Underlin went to their house with Sister Cashmore (a brand new sis being trained by sis Birch) on exchanges and invited them for baptism and they all said YES! Whoop Whoooop! They are praying now about when to be baptized and they KNOW that it is the right thing to do. The girls came to church this week, they haven't quite got how they need to all go as a family yet but we now know to focus on it haha but it was really good! A lady in the ward talked all about listening to the Holy Ghost when praying about questions in life and Mae was in tears the whole time. She has such a beautiful spirit and this faith that I have never seen. We waited for her to walk into church with her walker because she refused to be in her wheelchair even though it was going to take her 20 min to walk to the door. She was in a car accident last year that handicapped her, they told her she was paralyzed from the waist down but she is proving them wrong and has been trying to rebuild her muscles. She is a rock star.
This week really has been so much fun, went on exchanges with Sister Birch to her area in Liberty 1st and had some good times with service and teaching a man who thought that the spirit were like UFO people. Haha. Gotta love being out here in the Midwest sometimes :) I think my favorite memory this week was having a family in the ward come up to Mae at church and invite her and the whole family over to her house for dinner on Christmas Eve. This lady doesn't have a big home or anything but she knew she wanted to help the family out this holiday. Mae was so appreciative and taken back by the whole thing because in her neighborhood, they are the ones who let those in need stay at their house or try to provide for others when they don't really have much themselves. I love the Christmas season, the season of giving. I am so grateful for my family teaching me how to serve and do secret Christmas boxes for families in need. I know that so many of you are already helping others and looking for ways to serve, thank you! Thank you all for the warm wishes and Christmas love you have sent my way! :) Merry Christmas everyone! Make the best of it, it only comes once a year!!
Love,
Sista Larson
