Transfers Came - Dec. 7, 2011

Hello everyone!
This past week was an eventful one but absolutely amazing! On Thursday last week I was on exchanges with Sister Hall who is the sweetest girl ever, I LOVE her. We had so much fun being together, joking around and LAUGHING all day long. We had this opportunity to visit this older lady in her ward who is like 78 or so and joined the church 5 years ago. We walked in to find her walls covered in these native American decorative plates and dream catchers everywhere. The first question that came out of my mouth was, "Oh are you part native America??" her response..."Oh no honey! Not at all!" said in a tone of voice like, where did you come up with that? Haha it was the best! She was so sweet and cute, she loves the gospel so much and has such a strong testimony. She made our day even better because of her funny personality and her strong testimony. Plus, any day with Sister Hall is a blast! She is being transferred out to Great Bend Kansas tomorrow! I'm going to miss not being around her.
Saturday we went to visit our family investigators that we are teaching and we walked in to find Mae and her husband in very bad moods. It was a little awkward trying to talk to them and having them talk over each other, giving little jabs at each other while we tried to know what to even say to help them out! Our time there started out a little different and little did I know that I was about to become a Therapist in the next hour. My communications/family studies at ASU totally paid off with them and I LOVED it! We helped them work through their "hot buttons" that you never talk about, their love languages, how to communicate to each other their feelings, listening, etc. By the time we had to go, the husband (I think his name is Jamie...) said you know ladies, thank you for coming over and bringing the spirit of God into our house, I really appreciate what you do for us and the Lord. We left leaving them happy, joking around and in much better moods than when we went in...it was amazing :) Another miracle happened on Saturday, we got a call from the Young Women's president saying she had a box for us from the Young Women's! She dropped off 2 boxes, one for each of us, a Christmas wreath and a bunch of letters to us written by the girls! It was the sweetest box and totally random Dollar Tree filled but it was AWESOME! We have the BEST young women in this ward.
On Sunday, our family was supposed to come to church but didn't make it which was very sad but it all worked out that day. We went to the Young Women's room for 3rd hour and got to learn with them! I must say, I LOVE being around the young women, maybe cause they have the same kind of immature humor as I do but also because of their surprisingly strong testimonies. At the end a few of the girls bore their testimonies and I was BLOWN away. These girls live in an area where they are clearly the odd numbered ones in their school yet stand up for what they believe, have strong morals, respect themselves, dress appropriately and still have a lot of respect from kids in their school...its awesome. A laurel Tiffany got up and talked about how she was at a big multi church event where our church was involved too and had this cool realization that so many people believe almost the same thing as we do but they just don't know very much about our church or the joy it can bring them. She said that is why she is so excited to serve a mission because she knows that people need to learn about it because of what it does for her life. I was floored because Tiffany is an all star tennis and soccer player for the high school, very well known in her school and still is so solid. I LOVE THAT! I think I live vicariously through the youth in this ward sometimes ;-)
Monday night we went over to our Spanish investigators home. Valeria (age 8) her mom Danelia, and her cousin Sandra were all sitting at the dinner table reading their book of Mormons when we knocked on the door, it was an amazing sight. Valeria is committed for baptism and will be getting baptized on the 17th!! Whoop! We asked them why they feel like a prophet is important and each of them had such beautiful answers. Sandra said he the connection between us and Heavenly Father, Danelia said he is our example, and Valeria said that the prophet shares the same love as she does...a love for God. They are all so amazing, were praying Danelia and Sandra can find another job so they can come to church on Sunday because that is all that is holding them back from getting baptized! Later that night I got a voice-mail from an Elder at the Jail saying that an Alisha White called looking for me! I called her back to see if she was going to the Jail since she was in Kansas City for a few days but she wasn't going to make it. Well then we continued talking for the next 20 minutes and it was so much fun! It was perfect timing talking to her because I was just praying and wondering if I have gotten more awkward or boring...but as soon as I started talking to her we were laughing and back to normal! I guess I am kind of funny still ;-) Either way it was a tender mercy to my lil heart! Love Alisha so much!!
Yesterday we had a breakfast with the Herron's, I love Elder Herron, he's the more rebellious one and he knows it which is the best part. All day I kept worrying about whether I was going to get transferred or what was going to happen then the phone call came at 9:45pm.....I AM STAYING HERE!!! Yeah! I am so happy!! We get to have a white Christmas together here in Liberty and I have a feeling things are going to be really good this transfer :) I was reading through my quote book yesterday and I just thought I would share a few of my favorite quotes...
"The Lord expects our THINKING. He expects our ACTION. He expects our LABORS. He expects our TESTIMONIES. He expects our DEVOTION." -Thomas S. Monson
"God knows that some of the greatest souls who have ever lived are those who will never appear in the chronicles of history" -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
"The past cannot prevail against the power of NOW" -Eckart Tolle
I love you all so much! thank you for your warm letters and funny things you say that help me keep up on my humor out here! Things get boring sometimes so it helps :) I love you all so much and I am SOO grateful I get to stay here! Yeah! Have a wonderful week, stay positive and have fun!
Love
Sista Larson
