Hello Hello!
This week has been so fun, exciting, full of tender mercies and not what we expected at all! Much like EVERY day of missionary life...
On Wednesday we contacted a referral we received from the headquarters. His name is Alex, younger guy around 23 and is too smart for both sister Whittier and I. He went to the William Jewel College here in Liberty on a full ride scholarship and is a theater major who has a vocab far above my head! He is really funny and nerdy though which made it fun to talk with him and he is really open to learning more about what we teach because he feels like there are a lot of unanswered questions. He was a tender mercy for us that morning too because we were not having any luck with our plans and he made it more exciting. Later that day, I had a visitor from my home ward in Colorado Springs, Brother Hollister!! It was so much fun talking to him and hearing about his family I grew up with. Plus he kind of reminds me of my dad, just a big teddy bear so that was fun...I wanted to hug him so bad! Don't worry, I didn't :)
Thursday on shift was the busiest it has been since I have been here and it was kind of random too. But I took a smaller group on tour and one couple was from Australia and their friends were from London. They were so much fun, we sat talking for some time after the tour and she gave me her contact info so I can call her after the mission! I finally have some friends in distant lands...who cares if they are my parents age!? Not me! Later that day, we got a call from a former investigator names Joan who is from Wisconsin with the THICKEST accent. She is so fun and all she called for was to take her mail and put it in our mailbox even though she has her own mailbox. Its funny because she just used it as an excuse to have us come by and before we left she asked us to come by again to teach her. I love how even a letter to be mailed is used to bring us missionaries by again.
Friday we had zone conference and it was with 2 other zones, one of them being Warrensburg zone, my old zone from Odessa!! It was such a tender mercy, I loved seeing some of the old elders I served with and of course my baby Sister Tafradzhieva and Sister Moore! The other zone was from Kansas City which is where Sister Dodd is serving so of course it was the best zone conference :) I seriously LOVE Sister Dodd. I pray for the day we get to be companions again! She is my best friend out here and I met her on day 1 of my mission...so awesome. President Keyes reminded us about how the temple will be opened in the Spring time which will happen before we know it and we all need to be temple ready. I am SO excited because I know that I am here serving a mission at the right time, its not a coincidence.
Saturday morning was George's BAPTISM!!! It was such a wonderful baptism. His mom Sariah looked absolutely wonderful, her light alone has changed since I have met her and it has been a blessing to be here and apart of that change. George had woke up that morning with a fever, once he got to the church he felt fine and then as soon as the closing prayer was said he felt sick again. It is SOO amazing how the Lord works. It was a wonderful way to start out the morning and the weekend. Later that day we went to the Fall Festival here in Liberty and watched the parade. This town is so small but full of people. I love it here and would live here in a heartbeat! We went home and laid around the house for the rest of the day on Saturday and did the same thing after sacrament on Sunday. We even did some puzzling because we got SO bored with being inside for so long.
Sister Whittier has been sick since Tuesday and then I got sick on Sunday. Luckily I haven't gotten sick like her, she went to the doctors today and was diagnosed with Bronchitis (spelling??). The doctors visit today was the coolest experience though. After the doctor diagnosed her, she asked us if we had any pamphlets because she is studying up on some other religions. She told us that her husband's friend is Mormon and he gave them the Book of Mormon a few days ago and she started reading it right away! She wants us to come back and bring materials with us. It was so cool!!! Sister Whittier has never been sick like this before and she was totally meant to be sick so we could go visit this doctor!! Ha. I LOVE IT :)
Well, that is my week and I hope you all enjoyed it! :) If you haven't taken the time to read your Book of Mormon lately, I highly recommend it. The Ensign for October talks all about the importance of this treasured sacred book and I was reminded just how amazing it is that we have that book to read whenever we need. I am almost finished with reading it through for my second time and its just makes me smile thinking about the people written about who had such amazing faith or diligence. It really is another testament of Jesus Christ.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!
Love
Sistaaaaaa Larson
