We have the COOLEST Prophet

October 4, 2011
Greetings Everyone,
This past week was full of all kinds of events from 2 different exchanges, fun tours at the jail and of course, General Conference. In the beginning of the week, on Wednesday, I went on exchanges with the beautiful Sister Hall. We went into her area and it was actually not a miracle day for us but I think it was more of a day to grow closer together. We had fun trying new things, talking and had a little dress up session while on shift at the jail. Thursday, a group from Arizona had came into the jail and had the most amazing spirit/attitude with wanting to learn all about it. I absolutely LOVE taking tours where even the kids feel the spirit, have questions and have such a deep respect for what Joseph Smith and the others went through. That night we went to dinner at this older couples home, the Woods and it was so fun! Sister Woods treated us like royalty, she had shrimp appetizers, cute salad plates with sandwiches, and cheesecake for dessert. The whole night she wouldn't let us get up to help her, she served us and took such good care of us. She is the cutest lady and she LOVES missionary work. By her front door, she keeps pass along cards for anyone that comes up trying to sell her anything or if they stop by she hands them a card haha. She is awesome!
Friday night we went by this couple Juan and Claudia's to drop off some cookies to them. We stopped going by their house for almost a month or more because we felt like they were really progressing or wanting to make the efforts to come to church or do the things we asked of them. When we went over, they were so nice and were happy to have us stop by again. Juan is such an amazing guy and we just love him and his wife so much. That night he told us about how they sold their dinning table and some other things just to save some money. He then said, I would sell everything really just to follow Christ. He said it so sincerely, I was taken back. He really LOVES the Lord and knows how little of importance things are but is trying his best to teach his family of Christ. Their family is amazing.
Saturday and Sunday were conference days! Plus I got a simple letter from my trainer Sister Powell on Saturday which was so good to get. We got to see ALL the sessions which was very lucky and a huge blessing for us. I loved how Thomas S Monson just got up to the mic and said.."Hello!" We seriously have the COOLEST prophet! I will give you some of my thoughts and notes from conference at the end of this email, just in case you didn't see it or write things down :)
Monday morning some of us sisters went down to Independence for morning sports. I got to see Sister Dodd who really needed to talk because of some hard things she had been going through over the weekend. I was very glad that we went and to be there for her, it breaks my heart to see her hurt. Later that day, I had exchanges with Sister Hinckley in my area and we had so much fun together. She IS related to good ol Pres Gordon B Hinckley by the way. She is just a sweetheart, heart of gold and just pure as all get out. When she speaks, its so spiritual and simple. We had a good day together, taught a lot of people and really just had a simple fun day. It was a blessing to me because it was exactly what I needed at that time. I love how the Lord works :)
My conference excerpts:
Jose Alonso: Many around us who are LOST and do not realize that we are lost. May we..."Do the right thing at the right time without DELAY"
Boyd K Paker: "You are NEVER far from your Heavenly Father"
Dieter F. Uchtdorf: "Compared to God we are nothing, but to God we are EVERYTHING"
Ian Ardern: Time is NEVER for sale..."Let us be quick to KNEEL as we are to TEXT"
Carl Cook: Most of what we worry about is of little importance. "Remember, it is better to look up" -Thomas S. Monson. We should, "Look up and Step up!"
Henry B. Eyring: "The Book of Mormon is the BEST guide to determine how you are doing and how to do better"
Robert D. Hales: "We Wait Upon the Lord". We are faced with challenges to give the opportunity to follow Him. When we "wait upon the Lord" we are HOPEFUL, PRAYERFUL, STEADFAST PRESSING FORWARD WITH FAITH. "We are not alone, His angels are here to help us and bear us up"
President Thomas S Monson: "The Law of God has NOT changed and WILL NOT change. It is NECESSARY for us to communicate through prayer to our Heavenly Father. As we do we are ENTITLED to Inspiration. But we must be WORTHY of that inspiration"
Randall K. Bennett: "It is never too hard or too late to make correct choices"
J. Devin Cornish: "The things that are little to Him but of GREAT importance to US, becomes of GREAT importance to HIM"
Quentin L. Cook: "The Atonement covers all unfairness people feel about life and can help save and heal others"
It is such a beautiful blessing to be apart of this Gospel, to have a PROPHET on the Earth RIGHT NOW who speaks for God. What an incredible blessing and concept. Many people out there really have no idea that they are Lost, that they are missing out on such a wonderful blessing in their life like having this gospel be apart or your life. It really is never too late to change your life, I know that from a very personal experience I have seen in my own life. The Book of Mormon is full of wonderful tools to help us. Those who do not accept this gospel have not read that book because it is incredible. The spirit helps us feel and know that the Savior is proud of us, shows us that he accepts the things we are doing and teaches us of the truth around us. Knowing that this world was created for us is unreal, what an awesome thing to think that even though we may seem so small, TO GOD WE ARE EVERYTHING. I know that because I feel it for myself and those that I have around me in my life. I hope you all can see and FEEL how much Heavenly Father loves YOU individually. I love you all and I cannot wait until next week :)
With Love,
SISTA LARSON
